A diagnosis of gender dysphoria may entitle a person to a percentage of disability and a disability allowance, depending on its impact on functional and earning capacity.
- A person who begins medical procedures to adjust gender identity (first surgery or hormones, whichever comes first) - may be entitled to a full disability allowance for a period of two years, provided he or she meets the eligibility requirements, and without Medical Board examination.
- A person who has not initiated a medical procedure for gender identity adjustment within the past year - may apply for a disability allowance and his/her eligibility will be reviewed by a Medical Board.
Please note that in the case of transgender people, the opinion of a social worker or psychologist may be provided instead of a letter from a psychiatrist.
